Who we are
Yoga from the Roots ("we," "us") sells one pre-recorded yoga course through this website. The operator's legal name and registered address will be published here before the first sale. That person or entity is the data controller for the personal data described on this page.
We collect as little as we can. Here is all of it.
What we collect, and why
1. Your email address. If you request the free guide or join our email list, we ask for your email address — nothing else. We use double opt-in: your address is not added to our list until you click the confirmation link we send you. We use it to deliver what you asked for and, with your consent, to send you our emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
2. Purchase data. If you buy the course, checkout is handled by Payhip, which acts as the reseller (merchant of record) for the sale. Payhip processes your name, email address, country (used to calculate tax), the product you bought, and the payment status, and issues your receipt. The payment itself is processed by PayPal; we never see or store your card number or PayPal credentials. After a purchase, Payhip tells MailerLite to tag your email address as a buyer, so you receive onboarding emails instead of sales emails.
3. Course viewing data. Lessons are streamed through Vimeo's video player. To deliver video to your device, Vimeo processes technical data such as your IP address, device and browser type, and playback events (play, pause, resume).
4. Site logs. The website's host keeps standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, pages requested) to serve and secure the site.
That is the complete list. No form on this site asks for anything else.
The services we rely on
Each service below is named with its role. Each processes data under its own published privacy policy, available on its website.
- MailerLite — email list and automation. Stores your email address, your opt-in confirmation record, tags (such as subscriber or buyer), and basic email engagement (opens, clicks).
- Payhip — checkout, receipts, and the course area. Acts as reseller of record: processes orders, issues receipts, remits UK/EU VAT and US sales tax on each sale, and runs the login-protected course area.
- PayPal — payment processing. Handles the transaction itself as an independent controller under its own terms.
- Vimeo — video streaming. Delivers course lessons and processes the technical playback data needed to do so.
- Website host — serves these pages and keeps standard server logs.
Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Consent — the email list. You give it by double opt-in and can withdraw it any time by unsubscribing.
- Contract — purchase and course-access data: we need it to sell you the course and let you in.
- Legitimate interests — answering support emails, preventing fraud and abuse, and keeping the site and course area secure and working.
- Legal obligation — tax and accounting records connected to sales, held chiefly by Payhip as reseller of record.
Cookies and tracking
We use no analytics cookies, no advertising pixels, and no third-party trackers. The only cookies on this site are strictly necessary ones set by the services above — for example, the cookie that keeps you logged in to the course area. That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to opt out of.
Health data — please don't send it
Yoga involves the body, but we do not collect health data, and we ask you not to send us any. No form on this site asks about injuries, pregnancy, or medical conditions — deliberately. Please do not email us medical details either. We are not able to give medical advice (see the Health Disclaimer), and we do not want to store health information. If you send medical details unprompted, we will delete them from our inbox.
How long we keep data
- Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you. After that we keep only a suppression record (your address marked "do not email") so you are never accidentally re-added.
- Purchase records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires, then deleted.
- Support emails: up to 24 months, then deleted.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK (and in many other places), you have the right to: access a copy of your data; correct it; have it deleted; receive it in a portable format; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent at any time; and complain to your data protection authority — your local one is fine. To exercise any of these, email us (see Contact below). We reply within 2 business days and complete requests within one month.
International transfers
The services we use are based in the US and UK, so your data may be processed outside the EU/EEA. Transfers rely on each provider's safeguards — standard contractual clauses or an adequacy mechanism such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified.
Age
This site and course are for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new effective date; if a change materially affects how we use your email address, we will tell you by email first. Questions: see Contact below.
Terms of Sale & Use
Effective date: set on the day the course opens.
1. Who you are buying from
The operator's legal name, registered address and contact email will be published here before the first sale. Your purchase is processed by Payhip Ltd, which acts as the reseller (merchant of record) for the sale: Payhip runs the checkout, issues your receipt, and accounts for UK/EU VAT and US sales tax. The payment itself is processed by PayPal.
2. What you are buying
One pre-recorded digital yoga course, streamed online in a login-protected course area. Buying it gives you a personal, non-transferable license to watch and use the course for your own practice. You are buying access, not ownership of the content, and nothing physical will be shipped.
3. Price and tax
The course costs $108 USD, one-time. The price is tax-inclusive: the number on the page is the number at checkout, with any UK/EU VAT or US sales tax already inside it, calculated and remitted by Payhip. You are charged in US dollars. If your account is held in another currency, your bank sets the exchange rate.
4. How long you have access
You get ongoing access for as long as the course is available — guaranteed for at least 12 months from your purchase. We do not promise "lifetime" access, because no online product can honestly promise that. If we ever retire the course less than 12 months after you bought it, we will refund you in full.
5. Our 14-day money-back guarantee
Try everything for 14 days. If it hasn't helped, email us — we'll refund you, and you don't have to explain why.
The 14 days run from the day of purchase. To use the guarantee, email us from the address you bought with. The refund goes back to your original payment method via Payhip/PayPal, usually appearing within 5–10 business days. When a purchase is refunded, access to the course is revoked.
6. Your statutory withdrawal right (EU/UK)
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, the law gives you a 14-day right to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content, that right ends early once delivery begins with your agreement: at checkout you expressly consent to immediate access to the full course and acknowledge that you thereby lose the statutory withdrawal right once streaming access is delivered.
In practice this costs you nothing: our own 14-day money-back guarantee (section 5) is at least as generous as the statutory right and applies to every buyer regardless — so you keep a full 14-day, no-questions-asked refund window either way. Nothing in these terms limits any statutory right that cannot lawfully be limited.
7. Acceptable use
The license is for one person: you. Please do not share your login; download, copy, screen-record, or redistribute the videos or materials; resell or sublicense any part of the course; screen it publicly or to a group; or use it to build a competing product. If these rules are broken we may suspend or revoke access. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
8. Health and safety
The course is physical exercise. The Health Disclaimer on this site is part of these terms — please read it before you practice. In short: this is not medical advice, consult a physician if you have any doubt, stop if anything hurts, and practice within your own limits.
9. Intellectual property
All course content — video, audio, text, images, and any downloadable materials — is owned by the operator of this website. Your purchase grants the license in section 2 and transfers no ownership.
10. Our responsibility
We are responsible for delivering the course as described on this site. We are not responsible for losses caused by using the course contrary to these terms or the Health Disclaimer, or by events outside our reasonable control (for example, a temporary outage at a hosting or streaming provider). Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud — and nothing reduces your statutory consumer rights.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the version in force when you bought governs your purchase. The current version is always on this page with its effective date.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country where the operator is registered, which will be named here before the first sale. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in. If something goes wrong, email us first and we will try to sort it out directly.
Health Disclaimer
Please read this before your first practice.
This course teaches yoga. It is education, not medicine. Nothing on this site or in the course is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor or physiotherapist who has actually examined you.
Talk to a physician before you start — especially if you are pregnant or recently postpartum; have a current or past injury; have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, or dizziness or balance issues; have a chronic condition; or are recovering from surgery. If a doctor has told you to avoid certain movement, follow the doctor, not the video.
While you practice, your body has the final say. Stop immediately if you feel pain (as opposed to effortful stretch), dizziness, faintness, chest discomfort, or shortness of breath, and seek medical attention if it does not pass. Never push through pain to match what you see on screen.
This course is pre-recorded. No one is watching you or correcting your form in real time — that independence is the point of the course, but it also means you are responsible for practicing safely: choose a clear, non-slip space, use the suggested props, move at your own pace, and skip or modify anything that does not feel right. Physical activity of any kind carries an inherent risk of injury. By taking part, you accept that risk and accept responsibility for practicing within your own limits.
This course is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something in this course. If in doubt, get checked first — the course will still be here.
